Bicarbonate
in bottled water is ranging up to about 1800 mg/l with very view waters
(Apollinaris, Gerolsteiner, Borsek, ..) and most waters contain between 50 -
200mg/l. Bicarbonate is fundamental for our bodies and is found in all
biological fluids. Bicarbonates play a central role in maintaining the body's
internal acid-base balance and, in stomach secretions and it is essential to the
process of digestion. Dissolved in water, it helps neutralize any lactic acid
generated during physical exertion and raises the pH of certain acidic foods.
